Qualcomm AR Stall at the CES 2012

In was a nice experience to visit the Qualcomm stall that showcased their incredible AR SDK, especially since we were one of the first companies that created Augmented Reality (AR) apps.

They offer marker based AR SDK which is free, and works on IOS and Android platforms and also in Unity 3D.

Their cloud based AR service could be used to add and detect dynamically assigned markers.

We will maintain our AR edge by keeping in constant touch with Qualcomm and their SDKs.

Lego MindStorms Robotics at CES 2013

At CES 2013, I could take a look at the bewildering array of robotic kits called Lego MindStorms.

Though these kits look complex at first, they are easy to follow with an interactive iPad-App to talk you through step by step in stages. These instructions have 3d rotatable images to make it even easier.

They say these ranges are for 9+ age group. Lego also will eventually come out with an SDKs for app developers to build custom apps around these robotic kits.

Currently they offer open source software to control these via Mac and Windows desktops.

Apart from the desktop and IPad based remote controlling possibility, there is also a standalone tiny remote controller as well, that comes with it.

Nano Technology at CES 2013

There were two companies that showcased how nano technology could be used to safeguard smartphones from water! One of the company called DryWired (see video) demonstrated by dropping nano coated phone into water. The other company called LiquiPel too demonstrated the same, along with dropping a paper napkin into water that was coated and took it out dry.

Not sure whether the phone manufacturers adopt this technology as a part of their manufacturing process, or this too will stay as a paid add-on industry like the screen guards!
